Thanks for your thorough analysis of the problem and its solution. So sad that it’s taken a cyclonic apocalypse to ram home the beyond-urgent need for climate action. Having decided some years back to obsessively recycle (yes I do wash and recycle soft plastic and compost my vegetable scraps). I moved my whole life to be closer to public transport only to find my new council a bunch of climate denying procrastinators who won’t even provide kerbside recycling. Finally, I switched to a plant-based diet.

It’s been a disappointing and painful journey but it’s the only way for me to cope with being otherwise powerless in the face of grievous climate fuckery. And I still believe if everyone who can does the little things it will have an effect, even if only to put bad farms out of business. That’s all I’ve got.

It is a pity that Climate Minister James Shaw undermines his position by continuing to eat animals. Rather like a Health Minister who smokes.
